CURBSIDE RECYCLING STARTER KIT

Each new participant will receive a Curbside Recycling Starter Kit.

The kit contains information you need to participate in the collection program: collection schedule, materials list and sorting instructions.

Our collection service uses blue bags. They can be purchased from any local store that sells regular garbage bags: grocery stores, Wal-Mart, Canadian Tire, etc.

SORTING

Please sort your recyclable materials into two blue bags: paper and containers. Bundle your cardboard. Place your glass in a reusable box.

#1 - "Paper" Blue Bag - Includes newsprint, office paper, mixed paper and boxboard.

#2 - "Containers" Blue Bag - Includes plastics 1-7, plastic bags, tin cans, aluminum foil, beverage containers and milk/soy cartons.

Collection drivers will not pick-up blue bags that contain prohibited materials, so please make sure you review everything in your starter kit.

COLLECTION

In Fort St. John, recycling is collected bi-weekly on the same day as your garbage collection. In Dawson Creek, recycling is collected every 2nd Monday. Refer to your collection schedule for details. Please place your blue bags and bundled cardboard at the curb on collection day. There is no bag limit for recycling collection.

Please make sure your recyclables are in blue bags. This ensures the collection driver will identify them as recyclable items rather than household garbage. Remember to hand tie your bags securely to prevent spilling during collection.
