CURBSIDE RECYCLING EXPANDING TO DAWSON CREEK
Monday, January 11, 2010
Recycling rates in our region continue to increase as people put more emphasis on protecting the environment and reducing their environmental footprint.
The Eco-Depot implemented a curbside recycling collection service in Fort St. John in October 2008. The collection service has been so successful that we are extending and expanding the service going into 2010.
Beginning February 1, 2010, all Dawson Creek residents who have their garbage collected at the curb will be eligible to sign-up for our curbside recycling collection service.
The Eco-Depot is partnering with the Dawson Creek Society for Community Living on this project. All of the collection will be done by the Society.
Here is a brief description of the curbside collection serviceā¦
Recycling is collected bi-weekly on the same day as garbage collection. The cost to participants is $12 a month with a 3, 6, 9 or 12 month subscription. There is no bag limit and minimal sorting. The following materials are collected at the curb: hard plastic's 1-7, plastic bags, cardboard, tin, mixed paper, newspaper, milk cartons, beverage containers, aluminum and boxboard.
New participants receive a curbside recycling starter kit, which includes a collection schedule, and information on accepted materials and sorting. To register for the collection service, please call the Eco-Depot at 1-866-913-3760 or register online at www.ecodepotrecycling.com
