GLASS FOOD CONTAINERS WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR RECYCLING BEGINNING APRIL 1st
Monday, March 1, 2010
Starting April 1, 2010, recycling depots in the region will once again be accepting glass food containers for recycling. All colours of glass bottles and jars will be accepted.
Glass will also be accepted as part of the curbside recycling collection service in Fort St. John and Dawson Creek. Participants should place their glass containers in a reusable box and place it beside their blue bags on collection day. Do not use a cardboard box as the bottom can collapse if it becomes damp.
Glass will not be accepted at the recycling bin sites at this time. We are currently working on developing alternative collection methods to reduce contamination. We will include glass collection at the bin sites at a later date.
Please ensure your glass food containers are clean and free of food residue. Remove lids and labels. Remember, the following items are NOT recyclable: drinking glasses, mirrors, windows, plate glass and ceramics.
Glass beverage containers with a deposit, such as beer, juice and pop bottles, will continue to be recycled at all of the local bottle depots.
